Also the queen deserved worse, I get she was betrayed, but come on, u dont kill INNOCENT ppl, emotionally scar a child (now adult, aka ml) out of pettiness, TRY TO GET SOMEONE RAPED, and murder an unborn child for revenge (not to mention she killed another innocent person even before she knew she was betrayed), shes a victim sure BUT SHES MORE OF A MONSTER THAN ANYTHING
The fact that she got some closure in her death and that some ppl are defending her or putting her on the same level to the mistress (or other mc's from other webtoons) is crazy to me
TL;DR:
The mistress wasn't that bad (compared to others at least) but she lowkey got one of the worst endings
Im not saying what she did was right, but I feel like a lot of ppl are forgetting A LOT of important details:
A. She was with the ml dad BEFORE the dad got with the queen
B. Just like the ml dad tricked the queen into KILLING AN INNOCENT PERSON to make him ruler, the ml also tricked the mistress into thinking it was okay to stay in the relationship after his marriage
b.1) IF U ARE DEFENDING THE QUEEN SAYING SHE IS A VICTIM THEN U HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THE MISTRESS IS ALSO A VICTIM IN THE SAME WAY (if anything more justified coz she didnt kill innocent ppl)
C. She gave up her child coz she knew the queen would kill him if she didnt (even if she ran away)
D. The only reason she stayed with the king was coz that was THE ONLY WAY TO SEE HER SON, she HATED the king
E. Are we forgetting the queen tried to get the mc raped in the beginning but the mistress SAVED her, not to mention she was constantly supporting commoners who wanted to share ideas and improve the country (which lowkey is probably where the ml got it from)
I totally get the prince not wanting to start a relationship with her (nor should he feel like he had to) and she also didnt tell him the whole story (out of pride and to "protect" him), just kinda sucks that out of all the parental figures he had, the only ones that ACTUALLY loved him were the nanny (who got used and tragically killed) and the mistress (who was told she meant nothing to him and never will, but if he had to pinpoint an emotion it was be resentment [again totally vaild given the partial info he was given]), like the king and queen (who did love him to SOME extend, but really were just extremely selfish "parents") actually got decent deaths/closure and the ml still thinks of them somewhat fondly (understandable coz he was raised with affection and all those yrs don't just go away)
Idk, I also feel like other characters had more "screen time" to justify or humanize them but the mistress got less than 1 chapter that I felt like a lot of ppl overlooked
