Not possession it’s dissociative identity disorder. It’s something he gained from severe trauma as a child thanks to the war. It’s also thanks to said trauma that his memories about his family were altered due to suppression. One personality has the traumatic memories (Arut) and the other is the childlike, scared, and innocent one (Deon). When Deon is in a bad state of mind or under severe stress Arut will take over to protect his vulnerable side.
